4 Reasons To Buy Soy Wax Candles
When Burch Jones Candle Company was founded, both Kyle Jones and Austin Burch needed to decide on a wax they would use in their candles. They both contemplated using a more natural wax, juggling between soy wax or beeswax. Although beeswax has a bit more of a natural tune, soy wax was the more desired wax for a number of reasons.
Firstly, soy wax is non-toxic and offers a much cleaner burn. A zero-toxin emitting candle offers everyone burning a Burch Jones candle some peace of mind. Soy wax is made from the oil of soy beans. After the beans are harvested, they are cleaned, cracked, de-hulled, and rolled into flakes. They extract the oil which will then go through hydrogenation, which is a process that converts some unsaturated fatty acids to saturated. This process changes the melting point of the oil which makes it a solid at room temperature. Our soy wax is a natural wax produced right here in the U.S. Midwest.
Probably the greatest reason we use soy wax is because of it’s renewability. The only limit to soy supply is how much we choose to grow, however, the amount of paraffin wax is dependent on oil reserve supply.
Not only is soy wax sustainable, but a well made soy candle will burn longer than your traditional paraffin wax candle. The performance of a Burch Jones candle speaks for itself, which is why we refuse to use any other wax.
Lastly, soy wax has a much lower soot output because of it’s natural properties. A soy wax candle will produce little to no soot when placed in a draft-free room, making it ideal for sustaining a clean and bright ceiling.
Burch Jones Candle Company is proud to use soy wax for these reasons and we look forward to using it for the foreseeable future.
